Thanks everyone for the speedy replies. I will try and address all topics raised.
I don't have a dob for Thomas, which is probably why it is so difficult. Also, they were showmen and travelled a lot. My direct relative, son William, born 1859 ended up and settled on the IOW where they ceased the funfair and settled down.
I am looking for anyone that has a connection and information on both Thomas and his father William so that I can go back in time.

I am stuck. Looking for ancestors of Thomas Ball, father William, possibly Yorkshire. Thomas and Elizabeth married in 1848 in Cambridge, six children Thomas, James, Susannah, Elizabeth, Joseph and William. I am up to date to 2018, but need to work backwards with Thomas' siblings, father etc. I believe they were showmen.
