Malc, if there is no father named on the birth certificate, I would suggest that you are at a dead end. His baptismal record gave his father as Charles Clayson but presumably that information was given by his unmarried mother(probably to save face). His father may well have been a Charles but not a Clayson.

His mother was Elizabeth Clayson about 1855 from Wrexham but I do not know the name of the father .
