A newspaper article about his death in 1947 says that at the time of his death he was a keen horticulturist and an active member of the Charlestown and District Allotments Association. He was Chairman of the Association at the time of his death.

During WW2 he had acted as Deputy Warden of the A.R.P. in Baildon.

The article said that he was a retired farmer and also mentions his brother Thomas S Shackleton of 12 Springswood Ave., Shipley.

Thank you. That covers the 1914 war and up to 1920 and his death after ww2. Is there any way to find their lives between 1920 and 1939?

I am trying to trace Jack Ward Shackleton from his marriage to Ellen Dench in Romford in 1911. He was an orderly nurse in West Ham Asylum until WW1 as was Ellen...may have become an orderly in service.Family say they lived on a farm in Shrewsbury after the war but I cannot find anything. My father in law Ellens brother remembered a visit in about 1920 but he is now gone. Any help or knowledge of this family would be great.
