Looking for ANY info on Husbands grandfather William Potter. He knows nothing other than his name.

Hubbys (Robert Potter 15/01/1980) fathers details are Michael William Potter, 19/06/1942 born in Surrey Mid East to parents William and Alma (not sure if her spelling is correct). We have his dads birth, wedding etc but couldn't find 'dad' on the census to try and track granddad.

Looking to find info on grandfathers full name, dob and where he came from (and possibly parents) There has been talk that family originated in Germany and really interested in finding out if this is true.
