Where can i find out about burial?

I'm looking to find where my great grandfather is buried and not sure where to look. he was William Purt who died 23rd December 1942 in Bury St Edmunds Suffolk. Any help please. Thank you.

Yes I have his death certificate Chris, but wasn't sure where to look for where his remains were. I looked on find a grave in Bury St Edmunds cemetery, but couldn't find him on there, unless it hasn't be added. Many thanks for answering my question.

Contact the parks and cemeteries dept of the local council giving them the details from the death cert

It would be more likely he is in a municipal cemetery rather than a church cemetery

Even if he was cremated they would have the details .

For the time of his death it's more likely it was a burial

Researching:

He may not have had a headstone, or the plot has been reused for someone else.

As Shirley says, the burial record will give you the plot number. The council may also provide a map to help you find it. Many council will make a look-up charge.
