If you check on freebmd by just inputting June quarter 1841 and 15 225, you'll see that there are 9 births with the same Volume and Page number.

Lucy shows with Thomas and Jane on the 1841 census as per your first post. Her age is put at 1 but I wonder should that be 1 month if only registered June Qtr.
Could Hannah aged 15 on census (so 15-19 years old) be the Mother or were there older daughters?

John (not Joseph) is on the same reference - he showing as 2 months old and is with William and Ann.

One has mmn showing, the other doesn't so not the same parents

Greyghost - have just noticed on your previous reply giving birth notifications for the children that both Lucy and Joseph have the same refeence and page number. Twins ?

greyghost

greyghost Report 24 Mar 2018 19:16

No mmn showing for Lucy, often indicates an illegitimate birth, so perhaps daughter of a daughter of Thomas and Jane?

Margaret

Margaret Report 24 Mar 2018 19:06

Thank you everyone for your replies - and yes Andrew that is the marriage I found for Ann Mawbey and William Wallis. I hadn't found the two births - Lucy and Joseph - but that does rather confirm that they are William's children and not Thomas and Jane's. So he must have remarried a Mary ?? sometime after 1842 and before the 1851 census. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Have you looked for the marriage for William and the birth of Joseph

Margaret

Margaret Report 24 Mar 2018 18:40

I have Thomas Wallis age 64 on 1851 census b Naseby together with wife Jane 66 and son William 31 widower, son Joseph 8. son James 24 and grand-daughter Lucy 9. I did wonder if Joseph age 8 was in fact William's son as Thomas & Jane would have been 56 & 58 respectviely when he was born. I back-tracked to 1841 census and found Thomas & Jane together with other son James but no William. I then looked for William on Naseby1841 census and found William Wallis 20, Ann Wallis 15 and John Wallis 2 mths. Was this William.? I found a marriage for William Wallis and Ann Mawbey daetd 1840. I then jumped to 1861 census and found Thomas Wallis and wife, son James (still single) and son William and wife Mary and 4 children from 1 month to 6 years. Do you think that this is the same William showing widowed and then remarried ?
