Trying to sort out any help appreciated
I have been searching for ages for Mary Clewing or Mary Ann Clewing on 1841 she is on census in Birmingham then the trail ends
She was married to Edward Smith
This lady born 1821 died in Sleaford 1911
However the birth certificate of her first child Augustina Smith shows mothers name as Clewing but badly written and signed with a cross or mark
I now believe this woman to be Mary Bavin married Edward Smith in Sleaford in 1843 as I think her name may have been recorded wrong as she could not write
I can find no birth registered for Mary Clewing and it has been suggested on this site that Mary was a Romany
If I send for the death certificate for Mary and I have seen her grave and stone will it state her place of birth.
This is an aggravating loose end that I want to solve

Hi I am up against a brick wall!! On the birth certificate I have for Augustina Smith February 1859 Sleaford Mothers maiden name is CLEWING However I cannot find a Mary Clewing anywhere. The marrriage I have for Augustina's father Edward Smith is to Mary Anne Capwell Sleaford

Hi can anyone find a parish record for this marriage? Edward Smith to Mary Bavin Sleaford 1838. Vol 14 Page 849. The reason I ask is because this lady has changed her name from the maiden name on her daughter Augustinas birth certificate the birth certificate shows the maiden name as Clewing.

I have births of all children and grandchildren Great grandchildren but although help from other threads just cannot trace place of birth and parents of Mary Clewing

Then that is not the Mary thank you I was side tracked because I thought as she was married to Edward Smith she was the Mary Bavin
Thank you for Clarifying this just shows how it helps when someone knows how to analyse these records
I will not follow that avenue any more it just seemed to fit being in Sleaford and same mans name

I note the date of last birth but this would make Mary 48/49 I think there maybe two wives or are they grandchildren?

I think Grandchild is likely as when Lura marries she excludes her father's name on the marriage certificate.
