Good morning all.
Another one of my challenges!
Please can anyone tell me if it is possible to find a death for a British subject in India sometime after 1924? I've tried googling but no luck as yet.
Thanks.

If they were there as employees of the East India Company then you may find records

It is possible that it might have been mentioned in a British Newspaper?

Do you want to give us some details so that we can take a look?

Sorry Dea, crossed posts! This is for someone else, and her info is very limited, so please bear with me.
Her birth name was Melita/Malita May Cork born 1902 Dover. Her family moved to India at some point and she married a Bernard Smith in Bombay in 1924.
The family story goes that she died in childbirth, and that's all they have really. Her parents died in India, some of her siblings left & ended up all over the place.

" Her family moved to India at some point"

I think from the records above, that it's likely that Edward was already serving in India, and Lily went with him after their marriage - or immediately after Melita's birth.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 26 Mar 2018 11:34

A tree on Ancestry says that Edward died 1946 Karachi -- but doesn't offer proof.

The tree doesn't mention Melita, although lists several siblings - four brothers, and Helen.
It does list a Milly, who is probably Melita - no dates given, suggested birth and death in India, but clearly a guess.
