Interesting, always good to hear about some social history, the 2 men where lucky to survive.

Yes Sarah and George went to Australia in 1857, sadly on route their oldest son George died.

Thanks for your help.

As Daniel below...

Chris :)

14 May 1842 - Bristol Times and Mirror - Bristol, Bristol, England

Accidents.
May 12 - Daniel Wride aged 26, and H. Oram aged 21, were engaged at the scaffold sawpits of the Exeter Railway Company in Temple Mead, and while assisting to raise through the medium of the crane, a heavy piece of timber, on the top of the sawpit, the chains by which it was suspended, suddenly gave way, and the huge mass fell with great force upon the two men, producing fracture of the thigh bone of the former, and a similar fracture of the thigh of the latter.
We are informed that both men are doing well.

I have the same thoughts as GreyGhost about the vicar making a mistake on the marriage record.

Could the vicar at George's marriage have just made a mistake and written his name in the Father's slot too ????

helina Report 27 Mar 2018 11:35

I have received a marriage certificate between George Wride age 20 Sawyer, and Sarah Jane New, age 20. Year 1855 married in Clifton Bristol. Bit of a shock as the father's name is George Wride, sawyer. I always thought that George, junior's father was called Daniel and his mother Mary Christopher. I have searched ancestry and can find no George with George as his father, plenty of information on Daniel with a son called George. Where to go next as his birth was pre 1837. There is a marriage entry on familysearch again naming George Wride as the father but no birth of young George.

Any help would be appreciated
