Great shame!!! Parents are definites.

If we are stuck, I thank you both for your efforts - can I ask where the census info is from please, as I did not come across it via A----stry.

It is the on born 24 March Philip and so, yes, we can discount the one in Canada if you are sure that your's is the one with those parents.

Thank you for this - if this is the one born on 24 March 1842, then it differs from the DOB of 10 Sept 1842 that ErikaH has found.

I am trying to work through the children to see where they were born and to try to work out if Isaac married Mary in England?

It is not very clear on the census page.

I can see that he was a farm labourer and they were in Nova Scotia.

Also - are you completely sure that 'your' Isaac was the son of Samuel and Sarah (Gaskell) as I have found lots of details on another one born in Bury in 1841 - son of a Samuel and Mary (Williams) ??

Isaac did NOT have a middle name - the inclusion of 'Gaskell' on the registration above indicated that that was his mother's maiden name.

Thank you for this - at least I have learnt Isaac had a middle name!!!

May have to order the birth certificate.

Good Evening.

I have an Isaac Barrow, born 1843 to Samuel Barrow and Sarah Gaskell, in Pilkington, Bury, Lancashire.

1851 shows the family with Isaac 8, Sarah 6 and Anna 4.

By 1871, Anna may have died, Isaac is 28 and Sarah 26, living at 69 Robert Street, Chorlton-on-Medlock. Samuel died in 1869 and his wife in 1864.

In 1875, Isaac has a Bankruptcy Order - 1872 Sarah marries Thomas Wardrop.

Nothing found after this....

Any help/suggestions most welcome.
