Hi I am trying to find information about the above couple - they are not blood relatives of mine, but they "adopted" my birth Grandmother, Eva Lilian DAVIS.

Eva was born in 1920 in Surrey, and was adopted by John & Louie, although it seems not formally/legally, as Eva kept her birth surname of DAVIS throughout her life.

The PONDS married in 1921 and lived at various addresses in Acton, then Ealing, London throughout their marriage - but spent the majority of their lives at 23 Arlington Road, West Ealing, London.

I have no idea when or how Eva came to be "adopted by them", but the first record of her living with them as an adopted child is 1940, when she was 20 years old - I have no documentation, prior to that to say at what age she came to live with them.

As far as I can tell the PONDS had no children of their own and during the course of their marriage at various times, also shared their home with John PONDS nieces and nephews.

If anyone is connected to the PONDS and has any information about their lives in Ealing or about the adoption of Eva - I really would be very grateful to hear from you and exchange information
