Hi,
Wonder if anyone knows of a Joseph Stace who's family came from Brackley around the 1800's /1900's I'm asking because a family not connected to him have a portrait of him and would like to find any family still living in Brackley Northants so thay can return this portrait of him to them.

I'm not seeing any Joseph Stace in Brackley, or anywhere in Northants in 1891 or 1901.

There are two spinster Stace sisters living in Brackley in 1901 and 1911 -- I'll post that just in case it turns out to be relevant - but that's as near as I can find;

They didn't have a brother Joseph, and their father was called Perseverance.

There are no births, marriages, or deaths of a Joseph Stace in Northants at any time up to 1983, per FreeBMD.

How do the unrelated family you mention know he was from Brackley?

Thanks for trying guess it's one that got away, shame he looked a really well to do man in his portrait, but I will keep an eye on the post (Brackley News Post) to see if any more info comes to light.

This looks like Joseph's death. It would appear that he didn't live in Brackley although his great grandchildren did.

I think it relates back to Joseph Stace a surgeon and prominent man of Southampton..

The Hampshire online newspapers are full of reports about him and his off-springs.

He has a son---Joseph Frank (Frederick)?Stace.

ArgyllGran, I don't think that's Harry's daughter's marriage as she would have been very young. I think it's the marriage of Margaret Alice Stace a possible daughter of Harry's uncle Howard. Back in a minute with more detail. Need to look it up again as I'd posted it yesterday then deleted it because of Margaret Amy's age. :-)
