Am trying to find the Maiden name of my Great Aunts Mother.

Found my Great Aunt, Sarah Richards, nee Waring on 1911 census, for 34 Park Street, Maesteg, Glamorgan, with parents John and Lousia (ann) Waring.

Then on 1939 census, at 110 Rushden Gardens, Ilford, Essex, with Husband, David Thomas Richards. Sarah's date of birth 17 th December 1899. Born in Birkenhead.

Would like Louisa Warings maiden name if possible, what I think is Sarah's birth entry doesn't show it.

I know you know this, but it gives helpers Louisa's birth year and location

That could be the one, the family were in and around Bridgend, and Louisa was also known as Ann, maybe Ann was her first Christian name.

It would help to have Sarah's birth entry, which should confirm her mothers maiden name, but it's not on the one I think I have found for her, no maiden name is stated.

Daur Sarah is said to have been born Maesteg. Louisa is Ann L on this entry. Reading the actual census image I'd say that John Waring is dittoed 'in law', so Householder John Thomas's nephew in law (his niece Ann L's husband) rather than the nephew of his mother in law.

So Looks like Ann Louisa was a Thomas.

Yes, thats strange, 1911 census says she was born in Birkenhead.

1939 does not show birthplaces - what is the source of your info about her birth being in Birkenhead?

1911 posted above says born Maesteg for Sarah

Yes, the writer of the census has written Birkenhead, but it looks to refer to John Waring, I would agree that Sarah was definately born in Maesteg, the actual writing on the census is a bit of a mess.

The 1939 census was where I got Sarah's birthdate of 17th dec 1899, maybe that was not correct, and that could be why I can't find it.

Re the birth above for Ann Louisa - if her mother was married and had the maiden name Thomas, it would be recorded as such. No MMN means illegitimate
