I will book an appointment for Monday at the local registry office in Falkirk.
Then I will look for marriage and deaths for John Wilson farm worker.
Long shot I know but I will give it a try.

Thank all for your support much appreciated

As John specified that he was John Wilson Junior, I think that's another argument in favour of the thought that his father was at the same address.

Don't you think it more likely, as ArgyllGran has said that it would be John Wilson Senior listed on those valuation rolls?

You could try locating the historical electoral registers for the address that you have.

Perhaps a long shot but a John Wilson married in 1934 in Dunipace.

It's possible that John Wilson , tenant of Carronvale Cottage, is your John's father.
Any family he had will not be listed.

We have no idea how old he was. (Either of them.)

Just found the ploughman John Wilson living in Ingleston, Dunipace in the Val Roll 1925.
so John Wilson 1915 is not my man

Ian

Ian Report 21 Jul 2018 21:20

There is a birth for a John Wilson b 1915 Dunipace father was John Wilson
but that would mean if this is the John he would have been 16 went the child was born 1931

Ian

Ian Report 21 Jul 2018 21:16

re John Wilson b1901 checked this cert father was James Wilson

Ian

Ian Report 21 Jul 2018 21:12

Sorry not much to go on
1931 birth shows fathers name John Wilson (junior) so fathers name is John
the birth record gives his occ farm worker living at Carronglen cottage, Denny
Valuation Roll 1930/35 gives him ploughman living at Carronglen cottage
He was not married to the mother

As the Valuation Roll entries actually come under Dunipace, here's another possible birth:

WILSON
JOHN
M
1901
478/ 65
Dunipace

But that 's assuming he was a native of that area - but he could have moved there for work from anywhere.

Your answers to Greyghost's questions will be helpful - otherwise we're shooting in the dark.

What information do you have to say he was born 1905 other than guessing at his age in 1931. That would make him 26, could be several years either way.

Why do you think the John Wilson in Denny Valuation roll is him? Because the Mother of the child born 1931 was living at the same address but then you say you don't know the Mother's name

How do you know his (John c 1905) Father was John Wilson - presumably by the birth record you say you've found - where did you find that?

What records do Scotland's People not show?

Ian

Ian Report 21 Jul 2018 19:47

Looking like I will need to spend some time in the local registry offices as scotlandspeople don't show records
I will need to search for John Wilson farm worker in marriages and death I know it's a long shot

Ian

Ian Report 21 Jul 2018 19:41

Sorry John's mother name not know.

rootgatherer Report 21 Jul 2018 19:39

What birth record please? A bit unusual for a birth record not to name the mother.

Edit

Do you mean the birth record of a child fathered by John Wilson Jnr.?

greyghost Report 21 Jul 2018 19:39

Scotland's People shows 10 John Wilson's age 4 - 7 in Falkirk RD in 1911. Without knowing his Father's age or an accurate age for him ...........

These 2 John Wilson's appear with the same reference number on the 1911 census in Falkirk RD, but not Denny

WILSON JOHN 1911 M 34 479/ 19/ 19 Falkirk Stirling

WILSON JOHN 1911 M 6 479/ 19/ 19 Falkirk Stirling

I'm not seeing any other ref. no's with John Wilsons together of an age to be Father/son. Again, no telling if yours though

Ian

Ian Report 21 Jul 2018 19:37

I don't know the mother's name but a birth record shows him as John Wilson (Junior)

Ian

Ian Report 21 Jul 2018 19:35

Sorry I don't have much to go on. I have broadly assumed that if he was a ploughman in 1930 he would be in his mid-twenties a least may be a little older.
He was the father of a child born 1931 in Denny nether married the mother was a farm l worker at that time living at the above address in Denny

Denny in Stirlingshire

There is this birth in Denny for a John Wilson in 1904 - but no way of knowing if it's your man. you would have to buy credits on SP to look at the birth certificates

WILSON JOHN M 1904 476/1 94 Denny

--------------
Also this one 1906 with second name

WILSON JOHN HENDERSON M 1906 476/1 159 Denny

How do you know when (approx) he was born and how do you know the John Wilson in Denny is yours?

rootgatherer

rootgatherer Report 21 Jul 2018 19:18

Do you know his mother's name please? Father's occupation? Wilson is a fairly common surname. How did you work back to him please?

Hi I am trying to find family details for a John Wilson born abt 1905
I have located him in the 1930/35 Valuation Roll for Denny.
He was living at Carronglen Cottage, Denny working as a ploughman. in both records.

His father was also named John Wilson I'm not sure where he was from maybe Denny?

regards
Ian
