My great great grandfathers sister Mary Ann married, had a child and died in 1883. As most of that generation died young it has made me determined to find out what happened to the descendants of that generation.

Mary Ann's son Jesse James Dumpleton was born in 1883 and christened on November 11th in Aldbury, Herts. On the 1939 register he is living in Bletchley with a woman calling herself Ruth A. Dumpleton but I cannot find a marriage for them.

Jesse James appears to have died in 1951 in North Bucks and Ruth Annie Dumpleton appears to have died in 1975 in North Bucks. Ruth's death record shows that she was born in September 1885. There are two births for Ruth Annie's in the September quarter 1885 and the most likely seems to be a Ruth Annie Kirby who's birth was registered in Aylesbury.

Is their any way anyone can think of trying to prove it other than ordering both death certs and hoping they were registered by the same person.

Not sure if it's related, but there are 3 Dumpleton births mother maiden name Kirby in Newport Pagnell RD from 1913-1920 on FreeBMD. 2 sons, one daughter .

Maybe one of them is the closed record on the 1939 register?

So those 3 Dumpleton-Kirby births on freebmd are likely to be Jesse and Ruth Annie's offspring!

They must have moved away

But looks like they didn't marry

He states that his wife had cohabited and with Jesse dumpleton since 1912

They had had 4 children with only one still living named Ralph
He asked for dissolution of the marriage and custody of the child

It doesn't say the divorce was granted

Would explain why there was no marriage as the divorce wasn't finalised

Edit the 1911 census says married 4 years two chikdthe born 1 still living

He lists an Emma goldney but it's crossed out

I'll order the children's birth certificates to confirm it. No divorce would explain why Jesse and Ruth never married.

Thank you for finding their marriage and death records Shirley. It’s sad that Victor died young but that was time. A lot of Jesse’s aunts and uncles died young too. All bar two dying before the age of 21.
