Could she have changed her name by deed poll during the early 1940's before her marriage to Mr. Crockett?

My mother-in-law changed her name to my father-in-law's surname by deed poll in 1943, just before her first son was born. They couldn't marry as my father-in-law was already married in the 1920's and divorce wasn't an option at that time.

I think they may have mixed things up as she died as Crockett

Missing but on original is John V Merrill 27.4.97 Adjusting Brakes - electric

Looking at the original she is Irene Merrill in 1939 (living presumably with her parents John and Eliza). It looks as though her name changed, in order, to Draughsman, then Lorimer and then Crockett.

the dates in the margin are when the Register entry was changed not necessarily the date of the event

there are 2 dates - 28.11.44 with letters MREA and 26.6.?43 and letters REA There are other letters - an M and ? what else hidden under marks on the sheet.

Why are there two people looking for the same info ????

Hi all
I have all this info, I was trying to find out why all the different names on the 1939 register. Rumour has it she married an airmen who was killed - maybe.
