Hi malyon,
Thanks for looking for John William's birth entry for me. I have all their birth and death entries, I'm just puzzled about why they don't seem to be on the 1891 census.
I appreciate you looking, so thanks again.

Hi Jansmith,
I don't have Ernest's birth certificate, but I have their 2nd child's birth certificate, who is Margaret Elizabeth (my Gran) . She was born in Dec 1892 at 64 Russell Place, Willington, Co Durham. They are not at that address in 1891 as I have seen the
census image, and no 64 is down as uninhabited. I have been right through the census image looking at all the numbers in Russell Place in case they have been transcribed wrongly, and they are not there.
In 1901 census they lived at 6 Boyne Street, Willington, and in 1911 Census, they were back at Russell Place, but this time living at no 14.
I've been right through the houses in Boyne Street too, and they are not there in 1891.

I've done lots of different type of searches for them on 1891 census, and I've come to the conclusion that for some reason, they have been missed off the 1891 census.
So I guess I will have to end the search for them in 1891!
Thanks everyone for your help.

Just for the record ..................

Marriages Mar 1887 (>99%)
Sayers Margaret Auckland 10a 288
STRICKLAND John William Auckland 10a 288

I was just wondering if they had had a child before Ernest Goodwin that may have been alive in 1891, so wanted mmn for the new GRO Index.

But, no ,............... Ernest was their first born child.

No Jan, it's not them as I've found the Plummers on the 1901 census, but it's strange that Mr, Plummer was born in Coleford, Somerset which is only about 9 miles from High Littleton. Wonder if they came north together?

Thanks Kathleen. Unfortunately that's not them, as their first child Ernest Goodwin Strickland wasn't born till 14 Sep 1891 which is after the census was taken.

Thanks safc and Kathleen for looking for me. They don't seem to be on the 1891 census at all. If that's the case, its strange they were missed off.

Hi, My Great Grandparents seem to be missing on the 1891 census.
I've tried all sorts of searches and can't find them. I've tried just the surname with name variants, and just the Christian name with year of birth and where born etc.

Please could someone check the 1891 census for me, to see if I've overlooked something.
Their names are John William STRICKLAND, born in 1864 at High Littleton, Somerset.

Margaret STRICKLAND, born in 1861, at Pagebank, Durham.

Their surname has been spelt with different variations over the years, such as
STICKLAND, STICKLER and maybe other variations I haven't come across.

They should be in Willington, Co Durham as that is where they lived in 1901, and 1911 census, and the 1939 National Register.
I have all their census information apart from the 1891 census.

They married in 1887 in Auckland registration district, and I think they will have married in Willington, Co Durham.
