Does anyone know anything about a Frank Glass. Do not know date of birth. He was in East Surrey transport regiment Transport, in the 1930s, based at Shorncliffe, Kent. He also went to India in the 1930s.

How have you come across the name? Have you worked back to him from more recent records?

There are too many births for that name without something else to go on - even if it's just an approximate year of birth.

Had Frank ever been to Australia?

I found these two items from the New South Wales, Australia, Police Gazettes, 1854-1930

Name: Francis Samuel Albert Glass
Event Place: Thirlmere New South Wales Australia
Event Type: Assault
Publication Date: 13/02/1929
Page #: 143

Name: Francis Samuel Albert Glass

Publication Date: 27 Feb 1929

I don't know if this is your Frank, having been in Australia prior to returning to England to join the Royal Artillery and then the East Surrey.

There are Australian records for a Francis Samuel A Glass living in Victoria

Name: Francis Samuel A Glass
Electoral Year: 1968
State: Victoria
District: Wannon
Country: Australia

from 1963 through to 1977, I don't have access to these records so don't know it's your Frank.

Lastly, there is a Francis S A Glass on the 1953 Electoral Register living at 41 Artesian Rd with Charlotte Clipperton, Frederick Ham, Ethel Howell and Michael Basil Pilkington registered at the same address. Again, no idea if this is your man.

Afraid I don't have many details. He is named as the father of an illegitimate child in my tree. The mother's date of birth in 1902, she is 31 at the time.

I have come across many of the records above, and like others don't have access to records abroad. My sister also researching the family has found a Frank Glass who died in Ww11.

So, just looking for clues....

The South Wales item is interesting. There are relatives who went to South Wales around the 1900s.
