Were there any other children born to the marriage?

If not, might she have been 'adopted'. (formal adoption didn't come in till 1927, but a lot seemed to happen informally).

Please help!!

Kate E Barlow shows on the 1901 census, born Deptford, kent. Living in Deptford, kent aged 6. She is living with her parents William Barlow and Amelia Barlow (nee ransby) who married in 1892 in Deptford.

I have searched birth records in Kent for Kate, Catherine, Katherine Barlow from 1890 to 1900 and can find absolutely nothing. I have also searched with all these first names and the surname of Ransby - nothing. I have searched 1911 census under all first names and both surnames - nothing. I have searched marraiges between 1901 and 1911 - nothing. I have searched deaths between 1901 and 1911 - nothing.

Did this child even exist????

any help would be gratefully received.
