I think you may have to accept that you may never know for sure.

You could get copies of the various certs if it's important enough to you, but these stories do tend to crop up in families and get passed on as fact.

I have an instance in mine where a chap was told by his mother that she'd lost two sets of twins - no truth in it, whatsoever.

Austin, Very likely could be John, why Kent but there was relatives living there. A younger son was born in 1944 reg Staines (he lived) another son reg in Staines Births Dec 1941 (>99%)

There were twins born in Dec qtr, 1931, if the records posted earlier are for the right family, so that would rule out the one in Kent.

Perhaps they were stillborn so won't be on the bmd records

Maybe John didn't die at 10months

The stillborn register is a separate register and usually only open to the parents

Looking for the birth and death of 2 baby cousins. I have always been given to understand that my Aunt had 2 babies that died, one was called John and died when he was 10 months the other I do not know.

The parents were Leonard Spratt and Phyliss Williams they married in 1930 Northwick Gloucestershire but moved to Surrey/Sussex they had 5 other children.


I have searched FreeBMD with little success,

Any help would be appreciated.
