There are many reasons why someone doesn't reply to a message -

they are no longer interested in family tree research; they have health problems; they have died; the message has gone to their Spam box and they haven't noticed it; they think it's some sort of scam; etc, etc.

Sometimes people reply long after the sender has given up waiting - months or years.

If you go to "Messages" near the top of this page, then "Sent messages", you can see if they have at least read your message or not. If there's a green "closed" envelope symbol, they haven't read it.

It is free to register with Genes Reunited. Here are some of the things you can do once you have registered:

• you can build your family tree using our online tree builder
• you can search the names on the site to find possible matches with the names in your tree
• you can upload photos and scanned images to your Keepsafe and attach these images to relations in your family tree
• you can reply to any messages sent to you by other members
• if you already have experience in researching your family history you can import your Gedcom file in to your Genes Reunited family tree

If they still have the same e-mail address as they had when they were a member then they will receive qan e-mail from GR to say that they have a message on the site which I believe they will be able to read and to reply to.

If someone's sub lapses does this mean that they no longer receive a message which I have sent through Genes Reunited? I came across three people who matched an ancestor but no-one has answered. It occurs to me that perhaps they must be current subscribers in order to receive my message?
If that is correct is there any way of contacting them otherwise?
Thank You
