Hi,
Trying to find the above who was the son of Jabez Hayward and Lavinia nee Filmer, is he the one who married Ellen nee Fever in 1896 or somebody else? Jabez was a farmer of 113 acres in Rolvenden at 1861 but by 1881 only 45 acres and at 1887 he passed away?

It might be worth asking John how he came to Charles Heyward. Could he have researched back from a sibling & picked up the wrong father??

It wasn't compulsory to register a child's birth until 1874. It's possible that Charles/Charles William or what ever fell into that category. The Biddenden. Sissinghurst, Rolvenden area of Kent is still quite rural - perhaps his parents didn't bother?

Malyon, we've ruled out the Fever/Heyward marriage as the Charles Heyward's father is George.

If John is sure that the father was Jabez, then the 1898 Brixton marriage is more likely.

The 1865 birth is most likely as John states Charles Hayward's parents were Jabez Hayward and Lavinia nee Filmer. He'd picked up the 'wrong' birth reg for Charles.
