Samuel's a widower in 1911 so perhaps this isn't the correct family.

Ah, now I understand the ‘thank you’ pm received today.

You had another thread relating to Tunbridge Wells & Thomas Pretty. At that time, you thought he was fostered with a family near TW station.

The advice given the ie impossible to trace the foster parents without a surname, and the Children’s Homes now, are the only suggestions we can make.

The latest available census to view is the 1911 census so,as Thomas was born in 1913, he won't be on that. There is no searchable record available from 1911 until the 1939 register was taken.

You could try an Internet search for children's homes in Tunbridge Wells.

Anthony Report 18 Dec 2018 17:35

there is a gap in Thomas Pretty between his 9th and possible 16th birth dates.
It is believed that when his mother died when he was 4 then he was raised by his maternal grand parents to possibly 9 (or later) then was sent or taken to Tunbridge Wells to either a Children's Home for possible children of professional parents or moved to live with a family 1920's?
We understand it was near a station on a hill. We also know he visited Tunbridge Wells once he moved back to London to live with the Brewster family at 80 Adelaide Avenue SE4 and rowed near a wear in Tunbridge Wells.
Looking for census records or records of any children's homes at that time in Tunbridge Wells.
Yours
Tony
