Find Ancestors

Hi,
I am trying to find records of my great grandparents born in Burma and India. I have looked at many sites but finding nothing.
Surnames in question are Jacob's, lefevre, and Mariano.
In particular:
My grandfather was Francis Xavier Jacob's born in 1895 fort dufferin, Mandalay, Burma.
His father was Simon samuel Jacob's, born 1862, lucknow, India. ( married joanna, no surname)
I have very little info on Francis, none of Simon, apart from appearing on my grandfathers baptism record.

My grandmother was Kate caroline Mariano, born 1907 in maymyo, Burma.
Her mother grace lefevre /monteiro married Peter Joseph Mariano.
Grace's father was Geoffrey lefevre
Peter I marianos father was also Peter Mariano, who I believe was a school master.
Again I have certain info but not alot to verify.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

I can't help with your great grandparents but Kate Caroline's baptism record is on Findmypast and her father is Peter John, NOT Peter Joseph.

Kate's birth date was 9th May 1907 and her baptism 7th July 1907 at St. Anthony, Rangoon.

I have sent you the image.(look in messages at top right of screen).

At least I assume it's Iain's tree - tree owner is ijacobs1962.

A lot about Francis, from his birth on 13 May 1896, through his marriage and the births of his children, to his death in Nuneaton.

Quite a lot on Kate - birth, baptism, marriage, births of children , through to her death, also in Nuneaton.
Her father's birth and marriage.
Her mother's first name was Rose - no other info.

Clearly Francis's parents are more of a mystery.

Simon Samuel's birth was 16 Aug 1862, but there's nothing else apart from the birth and death of Francis.

A certain amount about Grace - her parent's names and their marriage.

marriage has been arranged between Hugh Francis Jacob, of Calcutta, younger son of Francis Jacob, M.lnst.C.E., Elleadene, Westcombc Park, and Alice Maud Wickins, only child of the Ven. William John Wickins, archdeacon of Calcutta, and honorary chaplain

Whether related or not (and I don't think he is - for a start he's Jacob, not Jacobs - several records on Ancestry) - that marriage sadly didn't last long:

Although engaged in 1913, they only married in 1915, in St Neots.

His mother was Emily Martha (from his christening record).

Alice returned to England, and in 1930 and 1935 was living in Cambridgeshire, latterly with her widowed mother.

She died in 1973, two years after her husband.

(Nothing whatever to do with the OP, but I got hooked! As you do.)

I would think Jacob/Jacobs are interchangeable and the forenames are sufficiently unusual to make your finds look like a good match ,AG

firstly to ArgyllGran, yes you are right I do have a tree on myheritage, ancestry.co.uk, findmypast and family search. I should of mentioned that earlier to save you all time researching but I do appreciate all your time and effort, especially ErikaH for all you found, most of which I do have except the Peter Mariano army lists. But I do appreciate all your hard work. appologies for not saying so in my original thread.

The Francis Xavier Jacobs you have been referring to is not my grandfather. Again I should of mentioned that he and my immediate family came to the uk from Burma in jan 1948. He died in Nuneaton, Warwickshire 1n 1969, my Grandmother in 1979. So apologies to ArgyllGran for researching the wrong person.

Ps, with regards to ArgyllGran mentioning the elusive Simon Samuel Jacobs, I am stumped. His name appears on Marriage of francis and Baptism and immigration papers for Francis.

He is my brickwall !
