I was wondering if anyone could find Mabel Burr on the 1939 register? |

What was her exact DOB? |

I don’t have her exact DOB yet as I’m waiting on the certificate to confirm. I suspect that her parents though were Robert Higgins and Mary Ann Major. I know that Robert and Mary Ann lost their eldest child Herbert Henry in 1914 at the age of 21. He is remembered on the Menin Gate at Ypres. |

Her DOB should be on the death record. |

My Great uncle has her birth as 8.3.1895 and he’s sending me the certificate to confirm it as he already has her death certificate. |

They appear to have split up, Charles was the only Burr on the 1936 - 1939 ER (at the same address as the 1939 register), and also in 1945. Could Mabel have been using a different name if she was living with someone else? |

Did this woman re-marry? |

It is possible. My great uncle has never been very open about his grandmother. I may need to have a difficult chat with him. |

I found that South marriage in 1948, the year Charles died. So think this is her in 1939: |

Thank you. So Mabel waited till Charles died as divorce was difficult and expensive. Their marriage though was over years before. I’m pleased at least one of them may have been happy. |

This thread has made me feel old...........Mabel is four generations removed from you, and my father was born two months before she was! |
