Find Ancestors

Could someone please look at Iseley family tree for me. There is a tree on Ancestry with Theophilus Iseley on it, father Charles Iseley & mother Mary Drew. I am interested to see what info is on it as Theophilus Iseley was my maternal grandfather. I know he married Mary Croote in Shoreditch, London in 1798 & he died in Upwood, Hunts. on 18/8/1832. He has been 1 of my brick walls for years as never found his birth. Does'nt seem he was born in Upwood as I have been to record office. Hoping this tree will give me some new info. Says his father was Charles Iseley & mother Mary Drew. Anything will help.

There is another Theophilus born in Wisbech area about same time but he married someone else.

I have seen this Theophilus before but he was married to someone else, can't remember now. There is no record of him in Upwood. My Theophilus had all his children in Upwood & my tree goes right down to my grandfather being born there. Haven't traced this Theophilus having children in Wisbech St Peter. I seem to remember seeing somewhere that this Theo's father died in Offard D'Arcy Hunts. Maybe I am missing something somewhere, drives me bonkers.

The only baptism that turns up on FMP or FreeReg is for the one in 1770 in Wisbech.


Your Theophilus sounds like my 5 x gt grandfather who appeared at his marriage in 1740, and no-one has so far succeeded in finding where he came from, except that he was "of full age".


Years ago I came up with the explanation that there was a space ship that had been circling Earth for many years, picking up people from "here" and dropping them "there" :-D

Thanks everyone. So frustrating, must have been a big space ship as seem to be at dead ends everywhere. Think I will have to check this Theo out again. All these places that are mentioned are quite close to where I live. I visit Upwood cemetery quite often as I have found quite alot of ancestors & their families graves there. We even put my mum's ashes in her mum's grave there. There is a William Iseley that was born in 1796 that I think is Theo's son, maybe from Sarah. Need to check records to see when Sarah died.
