If Frank or Francis was his birth first name, he wasn't born in Scotland.

The nearest wold be an Edwin Francis Ray, born in Colinton (Edinburgh) in 1925.

There were a couple Frank Rays born in England - but your Frank's mother's maiden name was KILJEWICZ, so he's not one of those.


I don't see a Ray/Kiljewicz (or variant spelling) marriage in Scotland, nor in England/Wales..

His name is Frank Ray, he died aged 50 in 1976, Glasgow, Martha St. I think he was probably around 1962 because a match for a half sister came up for me on MyHeritage, she was born 1961. She hasn`t logged in since last year so hasn`t responded to my message

On the other hand, if he lived in Glasgow up to 1962, we might be able to find him for you on the ER at that time, if you care to give us his name - assuming it's not too common a name, and assuming he was eligible to vote.

Also, depending on what his name is, his age at death, which you will know from SP, might help to pinpoint his birth.

If he died in the 1970s, which seems to be what you're implying, then access to Ancestry won't help, as the Glasgow ERs there only go up to 1962.

The National Library of Scotland is what you need for ERs - once you have (hopefully) discovered his address from his death cert.

(Although if the death cert gives his address, you don't need the ER - unless to find out who else of voting age might have been in the same household.)

Thank you for replying ArgyllGran, I only know his name and the year he died from ScotlandsPeople and the R/D....Glasgow. Even if I knew enough to get a death certificate they are not being issued at the moment. Thanks again

If you don't know where he lived, then I'm afraid the answer is "No".

Even if you knew in what town he lived, you would then still have to trawl through all the pages looking for his name, as the ERs are arranged by street name.

There are a few exceptions.
Ancestry has Glasgow ER 1857-1962; Aberdeen ER 1832 - 1976; Edinburgh ER 1832 - 1966; and Fife ER 1914-66.
These are searchable by the person's name, on Ancestry, although unless it's an unusual name, it might not be much help in any case.

Is there a way of finding out where someone lived in the 60`s and 70`s in Scotland, who with and what children if any. I believe I have found out the identity of my biological father (now deceased) and I`d like to find out more about him. I have no-one to ask..Thanks
