The two registrations are for the same marriage - .look at the ref no's

Ok thank you AG. Now I am wondering why I cant find a marriage for George in 1941 Massachusetts, maybe she married someone else.

I saw that one to AG. I did a search on George Lanyon for a marriage in 1941 Massachusetts, nothing!! Thought I may have been able to find an "opposite" entry for George. You would think they would put the name of the person they married.

There's also this marriage with the same reference number - not that that means anything. There are lots of marriages, both male and female, with that ref number.

No, the marriages on Ancestry don't say who the spouse was.
And as there are so many marriages with the same ref number, it's impossible to match any of the men to Beatrice.

ErikaH, I think you may well be right and that the “0” is a typo. Martin would seem to make sense. As for why she would call herself Beatrice Martin/O this was one of the mysteries, we wondered if she herself was actually adopted and changed her name to Mary, but it is all supposition.

ErikH, the marriage your found for Beatrice M Garvey in 1941, does it show who she married please.

The obituary I was reading was from a newspaper cutting which my cousin found, the obit you found Shirley is definitely correct, as the family names mentioned are family members for sure, we know who Lillian Barney is, she is Georges sister, and Coit is a blood relative on Georges side.

Maddie and Shirley, I saw the tree on Ancestry with Mary Celia Garvey, and put it on the back burner for now because of the Middle name Celia. I didn't think what Gary Saunders had in his tree was entirely accurate, but I did think of contacting him, and I may still do so, I am just not sure that Mary Cecilia Garvey is the right person, although it would be lovely if it was, because the census records you have found name other family members, and its other family members on Mary/Beatrice's side that we are looking for.

I did also see the birth entry for Joseph Neil Lanyon, but again put it to one side because he was the informant on Mary's death certificate and he was only listed as Joseph.

Surely the 0 on the end of Martin is some sort of typo - it's a zero, not a letter
