Hello everyone, thank you all for the above. I logged off before I got any response and have just logged back on. This is the article I referred to and relates to my ancestors Benjamin Race and his son Byers Race. Once again, thank you.

London Gazette 1665-2018
England

The London Gazette is NOT a newspaper - FMP have indexed it incorrectly

The London Gazette is one of the official journals of record or Government gazettes of the British government, and the most important among such official journals in the United Kingdom, in which certain statutory notices are required to be published.

Searching on the London Gazette, there's a petition to the Crown, publication date 15 Sept 1868, from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England, putting forward "the following scheme for making better provision for the cure of souls in the new parish of Crakeshall, in the county of York, and in the diocese of Ripon".

There's a schedule of landowners as part of that, which includes a landowner "James Robson, now the Misses Robson". The occupier of two of the Robsons' properties is "Benjamin Race, now Byers Race" who occupied Penny Holme (meadow) and Penny Holme (pasture). The rent payable was 19s 6d for the meadow, and one guinea for the pasture.

I don't know if that's the entry suggested by FMP.

Is 1868 the date of the alleged article - or the man’s birth year?

EDITED

Putting in his name and the year brings up a result as per the thread title, but my subscription doesn’t allow me to view the image
