Cornelius Driscoll 1842 - c1887 was my GG Grand father born in Cork, Ireland and he moved to CARMARTHEN Dyfed Wales and married to Bridget Driscoll 1842-1925. I'm trying to find what happened to him and where's about his burial? I believe he was hawker and live at 28 Thomas Street, he probably died in between 1886 & 1897.

Hope anyone can help with it?

Have you tried looking for a death registration?

When and where did he marry?

Doreen

I cant find his death registration. He was married to Bridget at St Marys Catholic Church, CARMARTHEN Dyfed Wales on 5/5/1860, his wife's burial in Aberdare.

I discounted that marriage, as you state that his wife was born in 1852

A bit more detail.

Malyon posted 1871 for Cornelius and children.
Their address at that time was Daisybank.

As Cornelius is your g-g-grandfather, you must know what children he had.

Possible children of the 1860 marriage:

DRISCOLL, JOHN mmn DRISCOLL
GRO Reference: 1863 S Quarter in CARMARTHEN Volume 11A Page 634

DRISCOLL, MARY mmn DRISCOLL
GRO Reference: 1861 J Quarter in CARMARTHEN Volume 11A Page 679

DRISCOLL, BRIDGET mmn DRISCOLL
GRO Reference: 1865 S Quarter in CARMARTHEN Volume 11A Page 692

DRISCOLL, DANIEL mmn DRISCOLL
GRO Reference: 1870 M Quarter in CARMARTHEN Volume 11A Page 739

DRISCOLL, JAMES mmn DRISCOLL
GRO Reference: 1873 D Quarter in CARMARTHEN Volume 11A Page 777

DRISCOLL, CATHERINE mmn DRISCOLL
GRO Reference: 1872 M Quarter in CARMARTHEN Volume 11A Page 772

These fit with the 1881 for Bridget which Rose posted, and with the 1871 for Cornelius, posted by Malyon.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 4 Jan 2021 10:12

Malyon posted the death of a Cornelius Driscoll in Apr-June qr of 1886.

That will be one of these deaths, from GRO site:

DRISCOLL, CORNELIUS 0
GRO Reference: 1886 J Quarter in OF CARDIFF Volume 11A Page 207

DRISCOLL, CORNELIUS 60
GRO Reference: 1886 J Quarter in OF CARDIFF Volume 11A Page 212

Neither of them was born anywhere near 1842.

What are your reasons for thinking he died specifically between 1886 and 1897?

Bridget is listed as widowed in 1881.
Not that that necessarily means that Cornelius had died. They may just have separated.

Cornelius Driscoll is a surprisingly common name. As he was a hawker he may have travelled around a lot, so his death could potentially be anywhere.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 4 Jan 2021 10:26

As you say Bridget died in 1925 and is buried in Aberdare, I assume this is her death - therefore born 1842, not 1852:

Deaths Mar 1925 (>99%)
Driscoll Bridget 83 Merthyr T. 11a 954

ArgyllGran and Rose

Thank you for your replies, it's really an appreciate.

You got the right of their children's information

CORNELIUS AND BRIDGET DRISCOLL HAD 7 CHILEDREN
MARY ANN DRISCOLL B. C1861-1898
JOHN DRISCOLL B. 1863-1936
BRIDGET DRISCOLL B. 1866-1880
ELEANOR DRISCOLL B. C1867-1956
DANIEL DRISCOLL B. 1871-C1942
CATHERINE DRISCOLL B. 1872- ?
JAMES DRISCOLL B. 1873-1947

Rose mention that Bridget was widow in 1881. Cornelius was deceased before 1881? He could be buried in Cardiganshire?
