the date shown when they married is on May 29 1853 stating they are both of full age. Eliza father is Samuel Nicholls and John Bird's father shown as a William Bird .. What William would this be?

Hello, I hoping that you may be able to help me with this
My 3rd Grandfather is Oliver C Bird..I have know that
Oliver's father was a John Bird and his mother a Eliza Nicholls but
I don't have anymore on who are John parents

but yesterday I had info from another scorce who has Oliver in their tree.
( that I can't check on as don't belong to that site ) that John's father was called
Clark S Bird born 1800 Died 1885,, wife called Mary Pauline Curtis
what I can't make out is that these people live in the U.S.A. I can't see how this is right

Can you please help me to sort out who John's parents were
