Please could anyone point me in the right direction for tracing Spanish ancestry?

I have looked on Familysearch and FMP (my world subscription ended 2 days ago ;-) ). I found the Ancestry page which lists Spanish records and I can't see any listed there that would give me the info I am looking for (I only have UK subscription).

I am wondering if there is a better site for Spanish records.

Thank you.

Try googling Spanish Genealogy and read what the various site results say

Four key pieces of information are vital in tracing ancestral lines from Spain: 1) the person’s name, 2) place of birth, 3) at least approximate date of birth, and 4) if possible, parents’ names. The place of birth is pivotal as it gives the place to search in Spain, where nearly all records are housed on a local level.

Also google "Cyndi's list" for Spain

Many libraries have free access to the equivalent of world Ancestry.

I expect the time period for when you are looking is important as many countries have strict rules on access.

Thank you for the advice. I had forgotten about Cyndi's List! I think the records I am hoping to find will be too recent to be available, but will keep looking.
