Hi. A bit of a long winded call for help.After finding a copy of a trial of a bigamous
woman Stella Toft, 45, of Manchester, in the Northern Daily Mail in August .
1941 which says she knowingly went through a form of marriage, at
Greatham Parish Church with George Crowe,29,of Greatham Village After
guilt caught up with her she went to the local police and handed her self in. . I have been unable to trace the family background of George Crowe or his
family. My wifes mother's maiden name was Crowe and it is very likely that
George would be a family member .

On 1939 he is with Allard Crowe 27/031884 and Emma E 13/06/1886 at Vicarage Row Greatham

DoB 20/08/1912

Allard is in two GR trees…..neither of them yours

Was your wife's family from the same area, there must be more than one area which has the Crowe name.

There are over 5000 people with the surname on the 1921 census

Looking at the newspaper report it is from the Hartlepool papers so, the Greatham in Durham then -

Aged 29 in 1941 he should be on the 1921 census -
