Hi Amanda,
Looking at the date of this posting, I don't know if you will even be doing research anymore.
I am a fifth cousin to you, and was in contact with your brother John briefly in 2005.
He was surprised to hear from me. I have a ton on the ancestry (yours and mine).
I live in Winnipeg, Canada, and my name is not Ponsonby, but my great-grandmother was Jane Ponsonby and was born in Greenock, Renfrewshire in 1848, and raised in Dumbarton.
She married Charles MacKenzie of Dumbarton, who was born in Dundee.
Her olderst daughter, my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth "Liz" MacKenzie married John Kennedy from Ireland in 1910, and they came to Canada.
They had five children, one was my mother, Jane Kennedy.

Although I'm almost 20 years older than you (born 1945), we are straight 5th cousins, as the generations worked out.

Anyways, I don't know if you are interested.
Your brother didn't show any lasting interest.
I'm not emailing you, as I don't even know if you have the same email address after all this time, and don't know if I'm even going to hear back from you.

Even though we are distant cousins, we come from the same ancestor.
I have lots of information, if you're interested in exchanging what you have.
