I'm doing a project on geneology at school and I am tracing back my family name 'Roper' as far as I possibly can. Therefore, I was wondering if there are any Ropers in the Somerset & Dorset area that could give me any info to assist. Thank You. Hollie Roper

Dear Hollie pity you did not come from Derbyshire. I have been able to trace the Ropers on my mother in laws side back to 1600. The LDS have done most of the tracing for me because they were all methodist. I was amazed how easy it was once I got back to Noah Roper born 1784 it was all charted up for me with wifes as well. The 1600 date was before the black death and the plague, so the name is an old one, good luck.
