The trying to find information about Barbara Popp or Popham who was born in Prussia around the years 1852-1853 she came to Aust to marry John Smith or Schmidt in Melbourne in 1875. They had seven children, Charles (b) 1877 Annie Mary (b) 1887 James (b) 1884 Susan (b) 1890 Thomas (b) 1882 Jacob William (b) 1892 and Caroline (b) 1880 They lived for several years on a property near Bungil, then due to ill health John, Barbara and Annie left for Qld. I have found that Susan died young, Caroline married Mark Brooker after 2 children also passed away, James (Jim)married and had 2 childrren, Annie married Morgan Evans(from Sofala) in Qld, they had 6 children, Charles married Martha Hore and had 4-5 children. The were abouts of Jacob and Thomas is unknown. Family members have tried to find out where Barbara and John are buried with no luck- it seems there were more than one Barbara Smith's in Qld. From information I can find they were living down Dalby Miles area all information is unclear from there on. Maybe some can help find out what happened to her and the rest of the family. Dell |
