There was an Abbot Marmaduke Huby (1494 -1526) who built a tower at Fountains Abbey and there is a village of Huby just north of York. I have found that there are families of HUBIES' in the Yorkshire area in the 1800's I assume de = son of Hubie but not actually found the name of de Hubie as a surname or christian name. Other than my father and I were christaned with the name, as it was handed down to us BUT from where (in the Sheffield area)? If anyone can help , please contact . David |
