Deardens in the Northeast (Northumberland/Durham) Appear in the records in the 1860s - there appears to have been a migration North from lancashire/yorkshire of a few members of the Dearden family - mining and metalworkers. This would correspond to the work provided by mining and shipbuilding in the area. One of these was my gt gt grandfather James Henry Dearden b 1851? prob Bury. m Nov 14 1870 (Violet Thompson) with my gt gandfather James following very quickly behind (spring 71) - birth reg in Auckland - where i found another group of Deardens (Thomas and Elizabeth - and their children - as Thomas was born about 1827 i suspect he was an uncle to JH - but no proof yet!) Deardens also appear in South Shields (Charles?) and Sunderland before speading out to Newcastle. As miners they moved about a bit. Thomas , I think, was finally buried in Durham. Would love to hear from any others in the Northeast either Deardens or related to deardens through female lines. I hope to put together the story and tie up the relationships and histories of this part of the family. Best regards Jim Dearden
