My research into the Imeson family history has led me back to North Yorkshire and in particular the area surrounding Masham. The earliest record I have found is the birth of Matthew Imeson in 1634, Matthews Father was Thomas Imeson, unfortunately his Mothers name was not recorded. Matthew Imeson went on to marry a Lady by the name of Jane Cowpar and the vast majority of Imesons I have been able to trace appear to be decended from this couple. The earliest records of the Imeson name appear in Roomer, this place name now only seems to exist as a common near Swinton, I assume that Roomer merged with Swinton. The Imeson name seems to have spread from Roomer to Swinton and then into Masham and on from there to the rest of Yorkshire and beyond.
