Hi!, Rosemary. Whilst researching my wife's 'Bowyers' I was informed that a Centurian in 'whatever' army was The Man controlling 100 bow men- hence, Bowyers. Regards, Col Robinson.

Hi; I was always told as a child, by my father Henry Wm. Bowyer born 1914 that the Bowyers where so called because they made the Bows, the Fletchers made the arrows and the Archers used them. Also that we were from the Cambridge Bowyers. submitted by Rosemary Bowyer.
