Hi Alfred,
I am not sure if there is a match here, but I do have an Alfred Common in the family. However his father's name was Wilson. Is your family from Scotland? Do you have any Wilson Common, John Common's or Gordon Common's in your tree?

My name is Alfred Common. I was born at Satlely in 1921. My father,also named Alfred Common,was born at Newcastle in 1895. The grandfather was a Robert Common,a compositor on the local Newcastle paper.There would be 6boys and 2 girls in the family. One of these,my Uncle Bob,was a captain in the army during the 1st ww,and was decorated by the Tsar of Russia. If anyone thinks they may be connected to my family.I would love to hear from them.
