The name Anders has also arrived in Britain through a mistake in understanding of the pronounciation and writing of the name Yentis, Jentis or Yentes. I.E yentis, endis, andis ,anders..... When my g'g'granparents came from East Europe fleeing from the pogroms, they arrived in Britain in 1800. I checked this on the records in London. There was a general Anders in Poland but no connection . Of course Anders is also a Swedish name. I have relations called Yentis ,Andes and Anders. Going back futher we have found that the family is/was also in France as Gentisse? Italy, Genetitosse? and in other countries and even possible that the name derived from YANAI (famous name and person) in 1400 who lived in Palestina.
