My grandfather was Albert Holland from Cornwall. He married Laura from Bristol and they eventually settled in Plymouth and had a large family. My mother was their daughter, christened Gladys Joan Patricia.(prefered to be known as 'Joan') She had several brothers and sisters. Can't remember all their names but there was...Beatrice, Doris, Elsie, Sylvia, Eric, Wilfred, Irene, and 3 or 4 more. Beat and Elsie Lived in Torpoint and you could view the naval ships in the harbour from their homes. Doris lived in Plymouth and her house backed on to the railway line (Plymouth to London I think). My mother and Sylvia went to London during the war. My mother married James Frost from Walthamstow. Sylvia married James Graham, originally From the Glasgow area of Scotland. Only my mother (now 80yrs old) and Wilfred are alive now, of those 'children'.
