Hi Margaret,

Have found Robert on the 1841 census. He did not have any family listed with him. He is the only Robert Dalzell listed in Kilmarnock. There are quite a lot of Dalzell's on the west coast not far from Kilmarnock
His date of birth is listed as 1777- if you can get a copy of Andrews death certificate it should give his Mothers name.

Hope this has been of some help.

Regards

Fay

I am trying to find anyone with links or information about the early life of Andrew Dalziel. When he was about 30 years in 1831 he married Margaret Jarvie in Cadder and in 1848, he and Margaret and their four children emigrated to NZ. We have their family tree from NZ onwards. In documents in NZ Andrew listed his father as Robert Dalziel from Kilmarnock. We have not been able to find any information re this Andrew. We know he lived in Carrderoch in Cadder for 7 1/2 years before he set off for NZ but where did he come from and did he have any siblings who stayed in Scotland? I would be fascinated to know.
