I have Janet Whamond born in Kirriemuir in 24/06/1800 - married James Wilson in Arbroath in 26/07/1824. Janet's father was John Whamond, mother Helen Neve.

Is there any connection with your tree - I note that your George was born in Arbroath?

Hi I think there may be some connection between your ancestors and mine. My grandma was Margaret Ellen Whamond born in Sunderland in 1882. Her father was George Whamond born in 1849 in Arbroath Scotland and he was a tailor and then a fisherman. He had 10 children altogether and one of them was called John who was born in 1887 in Hartlepool. I have the full family tree which was given to me by my aunt - the tree was done by another relative from Newcastle. It is on a large sheet of wallpaper. Do you live in Hartlepool if so you could have a look at it. Alex another son married a lady from Whitby and their shop sold Whitby Jet jewellery - the name on the shop now say W. Hamond. My name is Angela Hughes and my mother was Margaret Tweddle. I do know a little more about the family if you want details please contact me.

My great grandfather George Whamond was a tailor in Scotland, he was one of a large family. His son John was born in Hartlepool around 1890.He was a trawler man. Another family member opened a shop in Whitby, which is still there(in name only, which is above the shop door)
