Hi Isabella, I hope we are related somehow. My mother's paternal family were MILLAR and originated from Glascow, Scotland. My Great-Great Grandfather was James MILLAR who married Ann KIRKLAND (yet to be confirmed) and my Great-Grandfather was William MILLAR who married Margaret GILBERTSON in 1886 in New Zealand. I don't know what brought them to New Zealand but he may have been a Merchant Mariner like his son. William was born in Glascow ?1857 and Margaret was born in Shetland, Lerwick, Scotland ?1860. They eventually settled in Australia, firstly in Melbourne Victoria and later in Cessnock New South Wales. |
