I am a descendent of Bartons fromWiltshire , I thought they came from Melksham. My grandfather was John and he went up to London about 1900 and worked in the Ealing area I think at first as an errand boy He met and married my grandmother who was working as a parlour maid in a doctor's house , she was called Francis Tompkins. They had 8 children, 6 who survived and they lived at Felix Road West Ealing, could there be a connection I know his Father was called William?

BARTONS OF WILTSHIRE & FULHAM & PUTNEY I am researching my family of Bartons who originally came from Trowbridge Wiltshire. Charles married an Eliza and settled in Fulham, London (it was formerly in the county of Middlesex) and their children were Charles, George, Robert, John, Sarah, Eliza, Martha and William and Alfred. Also I am looking for a Henry Barton who also ended up in Fulham virtually next door to Charles. Charles was a witness at Henry's marriage but I don't know what the connection between Henry and Charles was, i.e. brothers, cousins? Henry also married an Eliza and as far as I am aware had two boys, Samuel & James. Is anyone out there following the same line?I would be delighted to hear from anyone who can assist. Happy hunting.
