Does anyone know if the surname "Moran" originated in Scotland or Ireland? And in which particular part of the country is it most common? Any historical background on this surname would be welcome. L E Elstone nee Moran

Moran is a very Irish name, mostly in the west of Ireland and in particular in Co.Roscommon.
