Hi Edna,

My Great Grandfather was a James Toohey born 1871 in Islington, London. His father was a John Toohey and his wife was called Ellen according to the records they were both born in County Kerry Ireland.
According to the 1871 records they had
a son Dennis,
two sons called James,
a son called John,
daughters called Margaret and Mary
and the mother was called Johanna Nolan.
At the time John was 50 and Ellen was 51

I dont know if these are anything to do with your Toohey's or not.

Perhaps you can throw some light on it.

Mr Great Grandparents came to London from County Kerry or Galway about 1866. My Grandfather Peter always told me that he was made in Ireland and born here in London. He married Agnes Pound from Wapping. I have tried to find out where exactly in Ireland my ancestors came from but have not, so far, succeeded. Edna Howard
