Hi,
I am trying to find my grandfather who was killed off the mouth of the River Tyne, Newcastle. He was the Master of the Pilot Cutter "Protector" which was blown up by a German mine on 31st December 1916. He was married to Catherine Reed (nee Lisle) and they had two children Thomas aged approx 8 years and Lisle aged 1 month. The Reed family came from North Shields.

Can any one help?

Regards Syd Reed
